Why Choose a Lakota Creek Puppy?
Genetic Testing
Bringing a new puppy into the family is a financial and emotional investment. Whether you are a professional dog breeder or simply a careful buyer, a Canine Genetic Health Certificate™ from Paw Print Genetics can help you understand the potential genetic threats to your dog’s health. If you decide to breed, this information will help you select the proper mate to produce the healthiest puppies, thereby increasing the value of your breeding program. Learn more about Paw Print Genetics.
Although all of our dogs have had a full Labrador Retriever testing panel, the following is the industry standard
Exercise-Induced Collapse (EIC)
All of our dogs have been tested for Exercise-Induced Collapse (EIC). Learn more about Exercise-Induced Collapse (EIC).
Centronuclear Myopathy
We test for Centronuclear Myopathy. Genetic testing of the PTPLA gene in Labrador Retrievers will reliably determine whether a dog is a genetic carrier of Centronuclear Myopathy.
PRA
Genetic testing of the PRCD gene in Labrador Retrievers will reliably determine whether a dog is a genetic carrier of PRA-prcd. PRA-prcd is inherited in an Autosomal Recessive manner in dogs meaning that they must receive two copies of the mutated gene (one from each parent) to develop the disease. Learn more about PRA.
D Locus
The D Locus (Dilute) test determines if a dog has one of the following genotypes:
D/D
D/d
d/d
Learn more about D Locus testing.
Color Testing
Strictly speaking, there are only three different Labrador colors:
Black
Brown (more usually called chocolate)
and Yellow.
These are the three colors recognized and accepted by the AKC in the United States, and the Kennel Club in the United Kingdom.
Understanding how a Labrador’s coat color is inherited starts with understanding how the three basic colors are passed on from one generation to the next. Learn more here.
OFA Testing
We are a breeder who has worked day and night to make sure we are bettering the Labrador Retriever Breed. We are providing our customer with the absolute best pedigrees possible from breeding pairs which have been genetically health tested and have passed the highest clearances possible outlined by the Labrador Retriever Club of America while working with the Orthopedic Foundation for Animals. (OFA). Read more about OFA testing.
Hip / Elbow Dysplasia
All our dogs have been checked for Hip and Elbow Dysplasia. Read more about Hip Dysphasia here and Elbow Dysplasia.
Eye Certification
All of our dogs vision has been tested through the Companion Animal Eye Registry (CAER) The purpose of the OFA Companion Animal Eye Registry (CAER) is to provide breeders with information regarding canine eye diseases so that they may make informed breeding decisions in an effort to produce healthier dogs. CAER certifications will be performed by board certified (ACVO) veterinary ophthalmologists.

Early Neurological Stimulation Program
We believe that your Labrador Retriever puppy should be able to be high performing. To that end, our puppies are enrolled in the Early Neurological Stimulation program. Read more about ENS.
